Virginia Greene Logsdon Spears

Mrs. Spears was born August 23, 1925 in Watauga County to the late Turner Greene and Dulce Younce Greene.

Mrs. Spears was a loving and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She was an avid bird watcher, she especially enjoyed the hummingbirds. Virginia also had a great love for flowers of all kinds and truly enjoyed growing her flowers.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob Spears, a brother; Bobby Greene, sisters; Viola Greene and Velma Phelps.

Those left to cherish her memory include her sons; Gary Logsdon and wife Mitzie of Lenoir, Kevin Spears and wife Linda of Granite Falls, daughter; Sherry Lynn Spears of Wilmington, brother; David Greene and wife Barbara of Morganton; a sister, Vandella Adams of Lenoir, seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.

Also left to cherish her memory are numerous nieces, nephews and other family members whom she loved.

A Funeral Service to honor Mrs. Spears will be held on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at Union Grove Baptist Church at 4:00 pm with Reverend Sam Craven officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Lenoir.

The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the church, from 3:00pm pm until 4:00 pm.

Serving as pallbearers will be Deacons of Union Grove Baptist Church. Honorary pallbearers will be Rex Cannon and Neal Thompson.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials may be made to Union Grove Baptist Church, Project Faith at 1808 Union Grove Road Lenoir, NC 28645.
