
William (Bill) Armond Hood Sr, 92, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away Thursday, December 24, 2015. Born in Lenoir, North Carolina, on May 17, 1923, Bill was the son of the late John Carl Hood and Bina Conley Hood. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Thelma Farthing Hood (October 24, 2015), brother Carl Kenneth Hood, and sisters Huey Hood Smith and Mary Hood Thompson.
Bill was a World War II veteran. He served in the United States Navy in the South Pacific on PT Boat 17 from 1942 until 1945. After the war, he worked for the state of North Carolina as an auditor, and later opened an accounting office in Lenoir where he worked until his retirement. He was a lifelong resident of Lenoir and member of the First Presbyterian Church. He is survived by a daughter, Donna Diamonti and husband Dennis of Yorktown, Virginia; a son, William A. Hood Jr and wife Elke of Clemmons, North Carolina; and three grandchildren, Jennifer Diamonti of Williamsburg, Virginia, and Shannon Hood and Christopher Hood of Clemmons, North Carolina.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 29, 2015 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Pendry’s Lenoir Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 29 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Pendry’s Lenoir Funeral Home with Pastor Robert Hinman officiating. Burial will follow at Belleview Cemetery.
