James Robert Field

Funeral services for James Robert (Bob) Field, 85, of Levelland will be at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at Fifth Street Church of Christ, Levelland with Jerry Sanders and Steve Sanders, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens, Levelland under direction of George Price Funeral Home, Levelland. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. He died Saturday, October 19, 2013 in Levelland.

Bob was born on May 7, 1928 in Goodlettsville, Tennessee to Samuel Lee and Willie Mai (Binkley) Field. He married Louena Gay Click on July 1, 1950 in Sundown, Texas. She preceded him in death on September 28, 2003. He moved to Hockley County in August of 1952 following his discharge from the US Air Force. He went to work in the oilfield and retired after 41 years as Superintendent for Bass Enterprises. He was also preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.

Survivors include a son: Sam Field and his wife Donna of Abilene, Texas; a daughter: Sandra Awbrey and her husband Randy of Levelland, Texas; a brother, Charles M. Field of Goodlettsville, Tennessee; a sister: Doris Hill of Portland, Tennessee; his grandchildren: Brandon and Heather Awbrey, Jim Ed and Amanda Field, Eric and Jayne Awbrey, Jared Awbrey, Bryan and Lauren Field; and ten great grandchildren: Kaua and Sidney Awbrey, Conner, Jackson and Harrison Field, Price and Calee Payne, Amber, Adam and Amy Awbrey.

The family suggests memorials to Interim Hospice, 707 S. College, Levelland, Texas 79336, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to any Veterans Charity.
