Mary Bell Beard

Funeral services for Mary Bell Clark Beard, 74, of Levelland will be at 10:00 am, Thursday, February 6, 2014 at Second Baptist Church, Levelland with Rev. Michael Holster and Zack Engledow, officiating. Burial will be in City of Levelland Cemetery under direction of George Price Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Wednesday, February 5, 2014 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm. She passed away Sunday February 2, 2014 in Lubbock. She was born July 11, 1939 in Paoli, Oklahoma to Robert and Pearl Clark. She married Ervin Engledow and they had seven children together, and she later married Frank Beard. Mary was a member of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas (former Vice President General) and is a member of the Lioness Club, Lubbock Genealogy Society, the Red Hat Society and The Texas Wine Growers Association. Mary earned an associate’s Degree from South Plains College and then her Bachelor’s degree from Wayland Baptist University. She later earned a degree in Biblical Studies. Mary loved to sew, cook and garden and most of all she loved to take care of her grandchildren. Mary enjoyed the beach and traveling and she loved her Lord and studying the Bible.

She is survived by two daughters: Carol Graf and her husband, Larry of China Spring, Texas; and Diane Lane of Levelland, four sons: Robert Engledow and his wife, Nancy of Lake Charles, Louisiana, Earl Engledow and Jana and, Danny Engledow and his wife, Mary, all of Levelland and Tim Engledow and his wife, Liz of Anahuac, Texas; a sister: Pat Bellar of Brownfield, Texas; twenty seven grandchildren and nineteen great grand-children and three more on the way. She was preceded in death by a daughter: Virginia Sue “Suzy” Engledow, her parents, Robert and Pearl Clark, her husband, Frank Beard, four sisters; and two brothers.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in memory of Mary Beard and in Honor of Maesyn Grace Lane.
