Rita McDowell

She was born on December 2, 1950 in Morton, Texas to Junior and Edith Linder. She was married to Joe McDowell. She graduated from Whiteface High School and Texas Tech University. She taught elementary school in Levelland for 24 years. She was a member of Second Baptist Church, Levelland.

Survivors include her husband Joe, two daughters: Kristen Barkley and Kelly Watson, both of Levelland.; her mother Edith Linder of Ransom Canyon, four sisters: Diane Jones and her husband, Everett of Keller, Texas; Debra Marina and her husband Charles of McAllen; Pamela Marshall and her husband, Richie of Ransom Canyon and Marilynn Sams and her husband Gary of Lubbock, Texas; a brother Randy Linder of Lubbock; four grandchildren and many nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her father and a grandson.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Thursday, January 10, 2013 at Second Baptist Church, Levelland with Rev. Michael Holster, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park, Lubbock under direction of George Price Funeral Home. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 9, 2013 from 6-8 pm at George Price Funeral Home.
