Shirley B. Lindsey

Graveside Services for Shirley B. Lindsey, 84, of Comanche, Texas and formerly of Levelland, Texas will be 11:00 am, Friday, February 25, 2011 in City of Levelland Cemetery. Burial will be under direction of George Price Funeral Home. He died Saturday, February 19, 2011 in Comanche, Texas.

Shirley Bert Lindsey was a lifelong resident of Levelland. He was proud of his life in Hockley County and was very proud to call Levelland home.

Shirley was born October 18, 1926 in Lubbock, Texas, the eldest child of Menephe Lester (Bert) and Maydell Dot Wester Lindsey. He married Lucy Pansy Rennin Skeins by proxy on November 29, 1945 in Levelland, Texas. They renewed their vows on November 29, 1995 declaring their continuing love after 50 years.

Lucy preceded him in death on January 20, 1998.

He retired in 1996 from the grain industry having worked for Luker Brothers and Lemco, Inc. in Levelland. He was A World War II Navy Veteran and was a member of Second Baptist Church.

He is survived by one son: Jimmie Lindsey and his wife, Brenda of Comanche, Texas; three daughters: Frances Brown and her husband, David of Comanche, Texas; Shirley (Annie) Smith and her husband, Dudley Smith of Celina, Texas; Lyna Burns and her husband, Larry of Levelland, Texas. Shirley was blessed with ten grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, M.K. (Kay) and Fred Guy Lindsey.
