Born on the family farm on May 17th 1942 in Ash County, North Carolina, Charles was the youngest of 5 children. When he was still a young boy, his family, seeking new opportunities, sold the farm and moved to Kennett Square, PA, where Charles would spend the rest of his life.
Charles served in the U.S. Army for two years stationed in Fort Hill Oklahoma. While he never saw active combat, he was willing and able to serve his country.
At age 22, he met someone who he would spend the rest of his life with….his future wife Carol June Wyatt. Married on May 25th, 1968, they had one son Charles Ned Wyatt Jr.
Charles worked a few different jobs until landing at Lenape Forge, becoming a skilled machinist who fabricated large-scale airplane parts and other items. Charles worked at Lenape Forge Products Corp. for 44 years until retiring.
In his off hours, you could find him at almost every yard sale and flea market in the area. Charles became an antique enthusiast with a keen eye and a knack for buying hidden treasures for almost pennies and reselling them for many times more. One of his favorite finds was a colonial dresser left on the curb for trash pick up which he fixed up and then resold for almost a thousand dollars.
Carol unexpectedly passed away in 2017, a year before their 50th wedding anniversary–a loss that Charles never fully recovered from. He was diagnosed with Alzheimers and kidney failure in early 2020. Alzheimers moved rather quickly with him. He was moved to Allegria at the Oaks memory care facility where he was taken well care of until his passing.
Charles is survived by his son Charles Ned Wyatt Jr. and his daughter-in-law Tara-Alanna McCray Wyatt; and his siblings Kathleen of Pound, VA and Thurman Wyatt of Shawsville, VA.
He was preceded in death by his sister Geraldine and brother Gwyn.
Services and interment will be held privately.
