

David J. Hennessy, a 58 year resident of Feasterville, died peacefully in his sleep at his home on Thursday, February 9, 2012. He was 84. Mr. Hennessy was born and raised in the East Germantown section of Philadelphia where he attended Northeast Catholic High School. At the age of 17 during his senior year he left high school to proudly serve with the U.S. Coast Guard. He was very happy to recently be presented with his high school diploma. Mr. Hennessy was employed with Sealtest from 1950 until 1960 when he became a self employed milk distributor. He retired in 1992 and thoroughly enjoyed his retirement years. He was avid coin collector. He traveled extensively throughout his life and had visited all 50 states . Mr. Hennessy was very proud to have written a book about his experiences while serving in the Coast Guard but mostly he truly treasured the times he spent with his family. Mr. Hennessy was the beloved husband of Frances (Golinsky) Hennessy for 63 years. He was the loving father of Frances (Robert) Palumbo, David D., Michael J., Maryann, Kathleen and Patrick Hennessy. He was the proud grandfather of Maggie (Scott) Gregory, Kevin (Natalie) and Francis (Andrea) Palumbo, Mary (Norm) Theetge and Maureen (Adam) Wheeler and the great grandfather of Justin, Max, Anthony, Sebastian, Lucy, Evelyn and Jackson. Son of the late David and Margaret Hennessy and brother of the late Raymond, Daniel and Beatrice Hennessy, he is survived by his brother Gerald Hennessy and several nieces and nephews. Family and friends may call Friday from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. at Assumption BVM Church, 1900 Meadowbrook Road, Feasterville, PA 19053 where his funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to the Tri Hampton Rescue Squad, 140 Township Road, Richboro, PA 18954.
