David C. Kerr

David C. Kerr David C. Kerr passed away on Saturday, February 16, 2013 peacefully, at home, surrounded by his loving family at the age of 79. Dave was born in the Mayfair section of Philadelphia and was an original Levittown homeowner since 1957. He was the son of the late David H. and Edith Kerr. Dave was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army serving as a cryptographer from 1954-1956. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #776 in Fairless Hills. Dave graduated from Lincoln High School in 1952. After his discharge from the Army, he worked for USX Fairless Works and retired in 1986 as an open hearth instrument repairman foreman. Everyone who knew Dave, knew him as a "Jack of all trades," always willing to help anyone; friends, neighbors and even strangers who needed help. He will be sorely missed. A devoted member of Andalusia Baptist Church, he loved life and enjoyed it to the fullest. An avid fisherman, hunter and golfer, he especially enjoyed his mountain retreat at Lake Silkworth in upstate Pennsylvania and spending time with his family.. Dave was predeceased by his loving son, David C. Kerr, Jr. and his sister, Shirley McMurray. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, of 58 years, Joyce; his sons, John H. Kerr (Eleanor), Bruce R. Kerr (Kim) and daughter, Denise Slivka (Bernie) all of Levittown He will also be sadly missed by his daughter-in-law, Vicki Kerr of Langhorne; his grandchildren, John Jr., Lauren, Kelli, Samantha, Bryan and Emily Kerr, Stefanie, Jennifer and Matthew Slivka; great granddaughter, Morgan Kerr; and his many beloved nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invted to call on Saturday, from 1:00 until 2:00 pm at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown, where his memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm. Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Andalusia Baptist Church, 1041 Colonial Avenue., Bensalem, PA 19020 or the charity of donor's choice.
