With deep love and sadness we announce the passing of Diane Dillon, age 76, of Langhorne, PA. She passed peacefully in her home on April 13, 2026 surrounded by her devoted sisters, children, and her granddaughters, Emma and Brianna, both nurses who lovingly cared for her in the last hours of her life.
Born in Philadelphia on August 30, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Charles O. Marte and Nancy (O’Hara) Marte. She was raised in Levittown, spent summers in Lanoka Harbor with siblings Charlie, Karen, and Nancy, and was often spotted riding around in her convertible MG. She graduated from Bishop Conwell High School in 1967, where she met some of her closest, lifelong friends.
Diane met the love of her life, Len Dillon, at Maloney’s down the shore in Margate, NJ. They married in April 1971 and raised their three children in Fairless Hills. As a young mom, she was actively involved as a volunteer and was a dedicated parishioner at St. Francis Cabrini where her children attended elementary school. She later worked as the bookkeeper (“CFO”) for Beer Mart, the family beer distributor for over 30 years, cultivating strong relationships with her customers, employees, and salesmen.
As empty nesters, Len and Diane enjoyed traveling to destinations such as Ireland, Italy, Spain, Mexico, and Aruba, spending summer weekends at their family shore house on Barnegat Bay, and making lasting memories with great friends. Diane was a legendary hostess who made sure every detail was perfect from the menu to the table setting with the goal of making her guests feel special. She loved decorating and devoured interior design magazines for inspiration. The family home on Durham Court was beautiful especially during Christmas. Bringing down the many boxes from the attic was an annual event. Diane would display decorations she curated over the years including her large collection of Santas. She loved baking during the holidays and will be remembered especially for her cookies and famous brownies with the dollop of buttercream icing.
Len and Diane were married 40 years until Len’s sudden passing in 2010. Although devastated and heartbroken, Diane found the strength to go on with the support of family and friends, especially her sisters Karen, Nancy, and Edie. Shortly after Len’s passing, she moved to HeatherGate where she met friends for life. She enjoyed nightly Rummikub or cards with the “Gamers” text group, going to weekly mass followed by breakfast, spending time at the clubhouse pool and frequent shopping trips. Although Diane slowed down with her rheumatoid arthritis and lung fibrosis diagnosis, it didn’t stop her from living life. With every stage, she was determined to “figure it out.”
To know Diane was to love her, often described as the “nicest lady” she made a lasting impression and built relationships everywhere she went. She wouldn’t show up to a doctor’s appointment empty- handed, often bringing a box or two of Fritz’s cinnamon buns for the staff. She was always thinking of others first, knew everyone’s name, and wanted to show her appreciation. There wasn’t a birthday, wedding or death anniversary that she didn’t acknowledge.
If you were lucky enough to be part of her family or a friend, she would do anything for you, and would spare no expense. She was the most generous, loving mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Diane had high expectations of her family and we all strived to live up to them. She shared many life lessons that we will not forget and passed on her passion for interior design, baking, and entertaining to her daughters and granddaughters.
She was so proud of her three children and quick to brag about their accomplishments; however, she spent the most time and effort on the special relationship she had with each of her grandchildren, texting and calling them often to find out what they were up to. She knew the date and time of every upcoming important event whether it was an exam, interview, or basketball game so she could pray for their success. She was their biggest cheerleader.
Diane got the biggest kick out of seeing her great-grandchildren and hearing the latest stories about them.
Diane was such a big part of our lives, often our first call or text when something good or bad happened.
