Doris was born in Baltimore, Maryland to parents William Clifford Newman and Mabel Catherine Evans. She graduated from the Institute of Notre Dame in 1943. Doris worked for the Baltimore telephone company until her marriage in 1946. After her children were grown, she worked at the nursing home in Levittown, Pennsylvania for several years.
Doris was preceded in death by her spouse, Michael Piasecki and her parents and siblings. Among her siblings were two sisters in the School Sisters of Notre Dame (Sr. Mary Pierre and Sr. Mary Dolora) and one brother, Bishop William C. Newman, formerly auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Baltimore.
Doris is survived by 9 children. Daughters: Mary Jean Duckett (John), Mary Joan Piasecki, Susan Colavito (Bill), Beth Day (Jack) and sons: Mike (Shannon), Tim (Kathy), Tom (Wendy), Jerry (partner Dee Mraw), Chris (Nancy) and one “adopted” son Roger Hibbs (Joanne). She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
A viewing will be held on Sunday, January 14, 2024 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at James J Dougherty Funeral Home, 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown, PA, 19056 and again on Monday, January 15, 2024 from 9:45 am until 10:30 am at Queen of the Universe Catholic Church, 2443 Trenton Road, Levittown, Pa. 19056. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 am. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, 5201 Hulmeville Road, Bensalem, Pa. 19020.
