

Dr. Horacio A. Hidalgo, Sr.Dr. Horacio A. Hidalgo, Sr. died on Sunday, January 10, 2016 with his wife by his side at Spring Village at Floral Vale in Yardley. He was 86.Dr. Hidalgo was born in Tampico, Mexico, the son of Miguel Angel and Amparo (Robles) Hidalgo. He received his medical degree from the Universidad Autonomo De Mexico in 1955.In 1962, Dr. Hidalgo was appointed Chief Resident and later served as President of the Medical Staff at Lower Bucks Hospital in Bristol. He was also a Staff Member at Saint Mary Medical Center in Langhorne.Dr. Hidalgo served 50 years of medical service. His offices included private practices Knouse, Hidalgo and Associates from 1964 until 1999 and Durham Physicians from 1999 until 2005. He was a caring doctor and friend to his patients and a mentor to his son, Horacio, Jr. and many others. He had an exceptional gift to help people in the most wise, caring and compassionate manner.He belonged to many organizations including a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 4215; a very active member and former president of The Exchange Club of Levittown; Legion of Honor, Chapel of the Four Chaplains; Diplomate, American Board of Family Practice; American Medical Association; Life Member, American Academy of Family Physicians; Pennsylvania Academy of Family Physicians; Bucks County Medical Society; and the Pennsylvania Medical Society.Dr. Hidalgo was an avid lover of tennis, golf and enjoyed spending quality time with his family. He also enjoyed water color painting and fishing in the Poconos.He was a true philanthopist and was very giving of his time and resources.Beloved husband of Janet B. Champagne Hidalgo, Dr. Hidalgo is the loving father of Horacio Jr. (Kathy), John (Brenda), Charles (Nanette), Craig "Tony" (Jackie), Mark (Diana), Maria (William), Barbara and Joseph (Jennifer).He is the devoted grandfather of Christopher, Jennifer, Rachael, Danielle, Michael, Mark Jr., Abigal, Aiden, Kai, Emily, Austin and Brandon.Dr. Hidalgo will also be sadly missed by his siblings, Jorge, Miguel Angel, Rene and Irma all of Mexico.He was predeceased by his parents and brothers, Oscar and Hugo.Dr. Hidalgo will be fondly remembered as simply an amazing man, with a strong work ethic, a true healer, who was gentle, kind and humorous.Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, from 5:00 until 8:00 pm at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown. Friends may also call again on Saturday, from 9:00 until 10:30 am at Queen of the Universe Church, 2443 Trenton Road, Levittown, PA 19056, where his funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am.
