Eleanor Beaver

She grew up in Wheeling, WV and attended Triadelphia High School. She matriculated at West Virginia University where she got a BA degree in English in 1967 and went on to teach high school and secondary school in various locations around the country for 10 years .

Ellie Started her United Way career at Northeast Florida United Way and served in a leadership position from 1986 to 1993. She then became Executive Director of the Centre County United Way in State College, PA and retired from there as the CEO in 2010.

She was a great lover of animals, especially cats. She and her husband, John, rescued dozens of homeless cats and found them adopted homes. She also enjoyed music, cooking and calligraphy.

She is survived by her brother, John Paul Leslie II (Diana), of Bucks County PA, nephews, Ryan (Leah), Evan (Jennifer), and Colin (Megan) Leslie, and niece, Christina Leslie, and nine grand nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, John Beaver.

A virtual memorial service will be held at a date to be determined.
