

Elsie "Jean" Pokrzywa, age 88 of Woodstown, New Jersey died on Saturday, October 31, 2015 at Friends Village, Woodstown, NJ. Born in Kingston, PA, Mrs. Pokrzywa lived in Fairless Hills from 1953-2010. Many people knew her from her days spent working at Meyers Stationary in the original Fairless Hills Shopping Center. She later moved on to work for many years for Dr. Elliot Willis. She got much enjoyment from interfacing with the patients many of which became lifelong friends. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she was active playing piano in the Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Penny Supper and was a leader of the pastoral care for many years. She was a former officer in the Fairless Hills Little League Women's Auxiliary Mrs. Pokrzywa was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, John,; her parents, William David and Elsie (McDavitt) Jenkins; sister Lois Jenkins McDonald; brother, Charles "Buzz" Jenkins; and sister in law Lois Jenkins. She was the loving mother of daughter, Carol Barlia and her husband, Bob of Egg Harbor City, New Jersey and sons, Keith Pokrzywa of Fairless Hills and Brian Pokrzywa and his wife Cindy of Woodstown, New Jersey. She will be sadly missed by her granddaughters, Nina Walters and her husband, Jason, of Winston Salem, North Carolina; Kari Pokrzywa of Houston,Texas; and Erin Cusmano and her husband, Chris of Mechanicsville, Maryland. She will be missed by her great grandson Jackson Walters who made her face light up with joy whenever she held him, or saw a picture or video of him. Confusion vanished, clarity returned with her loving words "What a cute Baby"; great grandson Vincent Cusmano and many nieces and nephews including Paul Tomasura of Wilkes Barre, PA, and Bill Jenkins of Fairless Hills, PA. She is survived by her sister-in-law Helen Tomasura, of Kingston, PA. Family and friends are invited to call Thursday, from 10:00 until 11:00 am at James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown PA, where her funeral service will be held at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in Rosedale Memorial Park, Bensalem. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name may be made to Alzheimers Association, Inc., Delaware Valley Chapter, 399 Market Street, Philadlephia, PA 19106.
