Early on the morning of February 11th, 2026, Harold C. Genter Jr., at the age of 95, relinquished the bounties of this world and, as he anticipated with joy late in his life, journeyed forth to reunite with his mother, father and two sisters.
Harold, born December 5th, 1930, was a Minneapolis native and the only son of Harold C. Genter and Frances Ann (Ackley) Genter. Harold was predeceased by his parents and two sisters, Frances Williams and Jean Smith of Minneapolis, as well as his nieces Jeannie Williams of Minneapolis and Molly Williams-Pike of Seattle, WA.
Harold lived most of his life at Woods School in Langhorne, Pennsylvania. He loved classical music and western movies. He attended a nearby Methodist church regularly and found strength and comfort in his faith. Harold’s many years of work at the Yellow Daffodil flower shop was an opportunity for him to explore his love of art and develop his talent for crafting. After retirement, Harold stayed engaged with his companions at Woods. He never wanted to be left behind and was always in the mix when a group was on the go. Riding his three-wheeled bike, swimming and yoga kept Harold fit and active.
Over the last many years, Harold grew close with his nieces and nephews. Nearly every day one or another of his relatives would spend time on the phone with Harold sharing the events of the day. His nieces and nephews would make regular trips to Pennsylvania to see Harold and these events were always a celebration. Every family visit would invariably end with Harold’s favorite meal: Red Robin for a burger, fries and a shake. Harold always knew what made him happy and how to light up a room with his smile.
Harold is survived by five nieces and three nephews: Frances L. Williams; Kittie (Williams) Anderson; Mary (Williams) Krieter, all of Minneapolis; Amy (Williams) Johnson of Panora, IA; Susan Jean Smith and Bentley Smith Jr of Whitefish, Montana, Lawrence D. Williams Jr of Weyerhaeuser, WI and Harold G. Williams of Red Lodge, MT. Harold is also survived by his loving guardian angel Elayne Lloyd of Philadelphia, PA.
Harold will be interred next to his mother and father at Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN after a private service.
