

James F. Meehan James F. Meehan, of Fairless Hills, died on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at his home. He was 87. Born in Brooklyn, NY, Mr. Meehan was a long time resident of Mineola, NY before moving to Fairless Hills in July of 2008. He was a graduate of St. John's University in New York. Mr. Meehan was employed with Western Electric for 25 years until retiring in 1981. He served as an M.P. in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Meehan enjoyed playing the drums and was a member of several musical groups. He was a member of the Barber Shop Harmony Society. He was also a member of St. Joseph the Worker parish. Mr. Meehan was the beloved husband of Joan A. (Tattan) Meehan for 57 years. He was the loving father of James J. Meehan and his wife Patricia, Barbara J. Steck and her husband Edwin, Teresa M. Meehan, Janet F. Drohan and her husband James, John C. Meehan and his wife Kristen, Julia A. Newman and her husband Robert , Catherine E. Murphy and her husband Robert and the late Raymond F. Meehan. He will also be sadly missed by 14 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. and Monday from 8:30 until 9:15 a.m. at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Rd., Levittown. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph the Worker Church. Rite of Committal will take place at Long Island National Cemetery at Pinelawn.
