

James Benjamin Rivera, 35, died on Friday, December 21, 2018, a victim of a random shooting in Philadelphia. Born in Langhorne and raised in Levittown, James has been a resident of Philadelphia for several years.He attended Neshaminy High School and graduated with honors from Truman High School. James enlisted in the US Army right after high school, where he served as a combat infantryman in the DMZ in KoreaHe had a passion for music, inspired by his grandfather Antonio, and his Uncle Orlando.James was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Antonio DeJesus and his maternal grandfather John J. Toner. He is survived by his father Antonio Rivera and stepmother Mercedes; his mother Beth Toner-Smith and stepfather Gerald Smith; brother Antonio John Rivera and his wife Beth Rivera; his sister Angeline Rivera; maternal grandmother Jeanette Toner; paternal grandmother Maria Rivera; the love of his life Danielle Spencer; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, along with many dear friends.Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, December 28, 2018, from 4:00 until 6:00 pm at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown, where his memorial service will be held at 6:00 pm.
