Born in Philadelphia, PA to the late George and Jane (Defant) Craig, Jane was a graduate of John W. Hallahan HS. She attended Villanova University while teaching first and second grades in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. She married Robert (Bob) G. Freiling in 1967.
Along with her husband, their two children, Bob and Trish, became the focal points of Jane's life. There was never a hockey tournament too far away, or a dance recital unattended. In fact, Jane's devotion to her children's upbringing and activities is legendary in family circles.
The stories of car trips, vacations, and travels to all kinds of destinations in all kinds of weather with Jane's brother (John Craig) and his wife (Doris Ann) and their children (Jack and Tim Craig) were topics of countless dinner stories, retold, especially at Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners, which were always fun, loud, and joyous occasions.
As her kids grew older, Jane rejoined the workforce and was a Quality Assurance Inventory Controller for many years at Sim-Kar Lighting until retirement. She enjoyed weekly lunches with her friends, and years of ceramics classes. The Nativity scenes she created for Bob and Trish have been part of their family's Christmases ever since. She made many pieces, meticulously crafted and painted, only to be given to her family and friends.
Jane's passion was her four grandchildren: Ryan, Bobby, Zach, and Victoria. Over the past 30 years, her life was dedicated to her grandchildren. Whether, cookie drive-by's, Phantoms games, trips to Disney, trick or treating, or any of the many traditions she initiated, it was always about the grandkids. There is not a hockey rink, baseball field, soccer pitch, or Olympic-size swimming pool that Jane has not been to anywhere in the Delaware Valley.
She never missed a birthday, school event, baseball, hockey, soccer, volleyball, or swimming meet. When one (or more) of her grandchildren participated on the same day, Jane would drive to spend time at each event. She was a strong and, at times, a very "vocal" supporter.
Predeceased by her parents, her husband, and her brother George Craig, Jane is survived by her son, Robert J. Freiling (Cynthia); her daughter Patricia Mayer (Ed); her grandchildren; Bobby and Victoria Freiling, and Ryan (Sari) and Zach Mayer; brother, John Craig (Doris Ann); and many loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2025, from 10:00 to 10:45 AM, at St. Bede the Venerable, 1071 Holland Road, Holland, PA 18966. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery, Bensalem, PA.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association Delaware Valley Chapter in memory of the Freiling Family. Contributions can be made online at https://www.alz.org/delval
