Born September 16, 1950, Jay was a longtime resident of Langhorne, Pennsylvania, and a man whose life was marked by steady devotion, quiet sacrifice, and an unwavering willingness to show up for others. He carried himself with the kind of loyalty and integrity that didn’t need announcing—yet was unmistakable to everyone who had the privilege of working beside him, worshiping with him, or calling him family.
Jay graduated from Manheim Township High School in Lancaster, PA, and went on to Bloomsburg State College, where he earned a Bachelor degree in Accounting. He devoted 31 years to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) in the Division of Risk Management Supervision, serving as a bank liquidator and bank examiner. His work took him to numerous offices across the United States, and over the years he lived in 9 states before settling in Pennsylvania.
Raised on a farm, Jay learned early the importance of hard work and dedication. Those values stayed with him throughout his life and were evident in everything he did—whether in his career, his home, or the many ways he gave of himself without hesitation.
An active and competitive athlete, Jay wrestled in high school and college, placing first in Sectionals his senior year of high school. Soccer was also a favorite sport. As an adult, he played on several travel and recreational leagues, and later poured that same energy into coaching his daughters’ teams—offering not only time and instruction, but steadfast encouragement and presence. In the same spirit, he volunteered with the Neshaminy High School Marching Band, supporting his daughters in all of their endeavors with a constancy that never wavered.
Jay loved the outdoors and found real joy in hiking—especially in Colorado—and in doing yard work. He also enjoyed reading about US History, watching baseball and football, and cheering on the Phillies and the Cowboys. A member of Peace Lutheran Church, Jay served in many roles, offering his time and effort in ways that helped the church, showing a genuine commitment to those around him.
While steadfast and hardworking, Jay also had a lightness of spirit that never faded with age. He carried a youthful energy—playful, warm, and good-natured—that drew people in and put them at ease. He delighted in laughter, in shared moments of silliness, and in connecting across generations with an easy, genuine affection. Whether among family or new acquaintances, his presence often brought out joy in others, revealing a man who balanced responsibility with a lasting sense of fun, and whose kindness and spirited nature left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
Jay was predeceased by his parents, Ellsworth and Grace Dombach; his brother, Dale Dombach; his brother-in-law, Mike DeMeuse; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Melvin and Louise Qualman.
Jay is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Cindy Dombach; his devoted daughters and sons-in-law, Amanda Dombach and Sheldon Adolphus, and Jamie Dombach and Joaquin Quintana; his sister-in-law, Cindy Reifsnyder; his sister-in-law, Lori DeMeuse; and his 2 nieces and nephew, Amy and Sarah Dombach, and Alex DeMeuse.
The family would like to thank the staff at Yardley Rehabilitation and Healthcare for the loving care Jay received during his stay.
