Joan Theresa Costello (Ottaviani) was born in Nanticoke, PA on May 29, 1933. Her loving family knew her as "Nan." She was the matriarch of the Costello family, creator of holiday traditions and lover of great Sunday dinners. She was a great cook and always left her door open for others to join. She never turned away an opportunity to make new friends who then also eventually became family. She adored solving crossword puzzles and was an active participant on the Wheel of Fortune and on Jeopardy, screaming out answers from her jazzy chair. She often wrote poetry and stories and shared them at family gatherings. Nan was also a wise teacher and led by example. She was quick to point out that her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were her greatest accomplishments.
Joan was predeceased by and is now united with the love of her life, Gerald Francis Costello and her parents, Anne (Onderko) and Delfrano Steven Louis Ottaviani. She is survived by her sister Patricia La Rossa, as well as by her loving children Janeil Mihalow (spouse Stephen), Janine Suscewicz (spouse Tom), Pamela Arce, Maria Vancheri (spouse John) and Mark Costello (spouse Tracy). Nan also has ten grandchildren (Jason, Sheri, Phillip, Erica, Nicholas, Jessica, Sean, Tanner, Zachary and Miranda) and nine great grandchildren. She also has two nieces and nephew and three grandnephews.
A celebration of Joan's life for her family and friends will be held at Saint Frances Cabrini Church, 325 South Oxford Valley Road, Fairless Hills, PA 19030, on Tuesday, October 4th, 2022. Visitation from 8:30 am until time of mass at 9:30 am. Interment will be held privately.
