Joanne Bernice Grotkowski

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joanne Bernice Grotkowski on Thursday, December 22, 2022. She passed away peacefully at the Vitas unit at Nazareth Hospital. She was 87 years old.

Joanne was born in Philadelphia. Daughter of the late Benjamin and Helen Lopacinski. Beloved wife of 46 years of the late Maryan Grotkowski, mother of the late Bernice Bourne. Joanne was the loving mother of Debbie Balent (John); grandmother of Nicole Brnich (Kevin); and Keith Balent (Wendy); and great grandmother of Ryan, Ava, Kole and Sydney. She will be sadly missed by her sister, Natalie Sofield and several nieces and nephews.

In her younger days she loved to cook, bake and enjoyed playing cards with her family and friends.

Joanne was a 1951 graduate of Lower Moreland High School and enjoyed organizing and planning their class reunions until 2018. After high school she had several employers, Bell Telephone, the Credit Bureau, Pomeroys, and Nationwide Insurance Company. She was happiest when involved in planning an event or vacation. She also enjoyed her summer vacations in Wildwood, NJ and spending holidays with family and friends. She was a lifelong resident of Levittown and Langhorne.

Family and friends are invited to call from 9:30 until 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 28th, 2022 at Our Lady of Grace Church, 225 S. Bellevue Avenue, Penndel where her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Grace Cemetery.

A special thanks to the caregivers at Phelps Manor House, Chandler Hall and the nursing staff at Vitas at Nazareth Hospital.
