

John M. LovejoyJohn M. "Jack" Lovejoy died, surrounded by his loving family, on Tuesday, March 7, 2017, at Chandler Hall in Newtown. He was 69.Born in Philadelphia, the son of the late Marie A. (Greene) and William A. Lovejoy, Sr, and a proud former resident of the Fishtown section of the city, Jack has been a long time resident of Lower Bucks County.He was a 1965 graduate of North Catholic High School. Jack graduated from Temple University, Magna Cum Laude, and from Fox School of Business with a degree in Accounting.Jack began his working career as a copy boy at the Philadelphia Inquirer under the supervision of food editor, Elaine Tait.He joined the Philadelphia Police Department in 1973 and retired as a Sergeant in 2004 after serving 30 years with distinction in Patrol, Juvenile Aid Division, Court Liaison, and Northeast Detective Division.Jack was recently working as a Crossing Guard for Lower Makefield Township, Bucks County.He proudly served in the US Army at Fort Carson, CO from 1966 until 1968.Jack enjoyed traveling, music, and was a huge fan of the Philadelphia professional sports teams as well as the British Premier League Soccer.He also loved to solve the NY Times crossword puzzles.Beloved husband of 40 years to Michelle (Morelli), Jack is the loving father of Jason M. (Rose) and Andrew M. Lovejoy. He is the devoted grandfather of Louis Matthew Lovejoy and the brother of William A. Lovejoy, Jr. (Dawn) of Thornton, PA and Donna M. Ennis (Edward) of Berlin, NJ.Jack will also be sadly missed by many nephews, nieces and cousins.Family and friends are to attend his graveside service on Monday, March 20, 2017, at precisely 11:30 am, at Washington Crossing National Cemetery. A procession will form on the funeral home parking lot on Mon. at 10:30 am.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jack's name to P.A.L., 3068 Belgrade Street, Philadelphia, PA 19134.
