

Kaarina Tuomi Kaarina "Karen" Tuomi, of Levittown died on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at Crestview Center in Langhorne. She was 69. Born in Finland, Mrs. Tuomi came to the United States in 1960 and has resided in Levittown for the past 37 years. She was employed by the Neshaminy School District in the Food Service for 24 years and was renowned for her cooking ability. Mrs. Tuomi was a long time member of the Finnish American Society of the Delaware Valley. She was also a member of the Middletown Senior Citizen Center where she led the knitting and crocheting club. Over the years she used her talents to make hundreds of hats for preemies, baby blankets for the children of soldiers overseas through the Red Cross and blankets for chemotherapy patients. She will be lovingly remembered by her family as a phenomenal wife and mother and for deep devotion to her grandchildren. Mrs. Tuomi was the beloved wife of Aimo Tuomi for 42 years. She was the loving mother of Mark Steven Tuomi and his wife Catherine Gindhart Tuomi of Langhorne, PA and Karen Tuomi Marosi and her husband William John Marosi of Mifflinburg, PA. She was the devoted grandmother of Colleen and Erin Tuomi and Hannah and Nathaniel Marosi. She will be sadly missed by her brother Martti Ovaska and his wife Ritva of Finland; her sister Terttu Ovaska of New York City; and a niece and nephew and their families in Finland. Family and friends are invited to call Saturday from 9:00 until 11:00 a.m. at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Rd., Levittown where her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Newtown Cemetery.
