Born and raised in Trenton, New Jersey, Bill was a proud veteran of World War II, having enlisted in the United States Navy on his 17th birthday in 1943. He served seventeen months in the Pacific theater, landing in the Philippines as part of a communication team that established "Radio Olongapo" at Subic Bay. He later was "Radioman-in-charge" at the Fleet Weather Central in Manila and was honorably discharged in 1946 with the petty officer rating of Radioman Second Class. After the war, Bill returned to high school, obtained his diploma and then attended Rider College, majoring in journalism and business. Bill married the love of his life, Dolores Pitonyak in 1950, and in 1958 they moved to their new home in Twin Oaks. Much of Bill's working life was in the construction industry. He was then employed for many years with the American Bridge Division of US Steel as a timekeeper/field accountant working at various construction sites throughout the eastern United States. In the 1970's and 80's Bill invested in and developed land in South-Central Pennsylvania. Bill enjoyed being outdoors, especially hunting and bass fishing.
