Louis A. BattistaLouis A. Battista of Levittown died peacefully on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at St. Mary Medical Center. He was 91.Born in Brooklyn, NY, Mr. Battista was a long time resident of Middle Village, NY before moving to Bensalem in 1998. He has resided with his son and daughter-in-law in Levittown since 2011.Lou was a proud World War II Army veteran.He spent his 20 year career working for the New York City Sanitation Department until retiring as a supervisor in 1987.Lou was an avid Mets fan and enjoyed attending baseball games. He also enjoyed trips to the casino's, Doo Wop concerts and going out to eat with his family. He was a very active man who will always be remembered for his positive personality.Beloved husband of the late Elizabeth A., he was the loving father of Vito L. (Dee), Nicholas P. (June) and Louis M. (Sandra).He was the devoted grandfather of Louis, Michael, Matteo, Christopher, Nicole, Michelle, Sarah and Taylor and the great grandfather of Justin, Nathan and Caiden.Lou is also survived by a sister, Ann Dinardo and numerous nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his sisters, Tessie, Margie and Ceil; a brother, Marco and sisters-in-law, Dolores Vecchione and Mildred Irizarry.Family and friends are invited to call from 4 until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 and 9:00 until 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 11, 2018, at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Rd., Levittown. His funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 11, 2018, at Queen of the Universe Church. Interment is private.
