Lynn was one of those rare people who brought happiness wherever she went. She always made sure the people around her felt loved and supported. She was endlessly selfless, always putting others before herself without hesitation. She never judged and never held anything against anyone, and she would drop anything at a moment’s notice for her family. Her grandchildren were her world, and she was so excited to become a great-grandmother this summer.
Lynn earned her Associates of Arts degree in Business Administration. She worked in multiple administrative roles throughout her career and later found a true passion as an appraiser with GMAC, where she especially enjoyed her time. She was a dedicated and hardworking woman throughout her entire career. She spent her life devoted to her family and those she loved, finding joy in the simple things. Being with her husband, children and grandchildren, making others feel cared for, and always showing up for the people in her life.
After the heartbreaking loss of her daughter, Tracé in 2022, Lynn continued to show incredible strength. For the past three and a half years, she held on for her family, never missing a game, recital, or competition for her grandchildren. She showed up for everyone, always putting her loved ones first while quietly carrying such a profound loss. Even though she is no longer with us, there is comfort in knowing she is now reunited with Tracé.
She was preceded in death by her father, Arthur Gerstenmaier, and her daughter, Tracé Schickling.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, William H. Schickling; her daughters, Renee Kitchener (Bo) and Erica Dougherty (John); her mother, Katherine Gerstenmaier; her siblings, Tari Ptak (Gregory), Arthur M. Gerstenmaier (Faye), and Cherie Stewart (Jim); and her eight beautiful grandchildren: Lilianna, Joseph, John, Connor, Brooklyn, Savannah, Mackenzie, and Trey.
She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
