

Born in Ellwood City, PA on October 10, 1933 to Earl E. and Lois (VanGorder) James, Phyllis graduated from Lincoln High School in Ellwood City and the Indiana University of PA. She was a Family and Consumer Sciences Teacher, retiring as Department Head at Pennsbury High School in 2000. While at Pennsbury, she was instrumental in the Child Development Unit facilitating the in-house nursery.
Preceded in death by her husband, Daniel J. Brown, Sr. and son, Danel J. Brown, Jr., Phyllis is survived by her daughters, Rebecca A. Eroh (Robert) of Fairless Hills and Amy B. March (Steven) of Ashburn, VA and her grandchildren, Julia Stringfield (Lucius) of Vineland, NJ; Michael March (Andrea Rose) of Ashburn, VA and Joshua Abrams of Fairless Hills.
Phyllis loved her cottage on Keuka Lake in Western New York. She loved good wine, good food, the theater and ballet, golden retrievers and travel. She was a past member of the Newtown Quilting Guild, the Regional Red Hatters, the "wee-bees" quilters and the Newtown Presbyterian Church. She and her therapy dog, Lucille, visited many nursing homes and schools in the area.
A memorial gathering will be held from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Rd., Levittown.
