Born and raised in Philadelphia, and a graduate of Father Judge High School, Ray has been a Bensalem resident for over 50 years. For 35 years, he spent his career as a Master Electrician with Local #98 in Philadelphia.
To all who knew him, Ray was full of light, and was seldom seen without a smile.
He was truly liked universally, and could find a friend anywhere to share a laugh or handshake. He was always willing to go out of his way to help anyone who needed it.
Ray had a relentless work ethic, which he strongly instilled in his four children. He was a proud US Navy veteran, and could build or fix just about anything. He spent countless hours outside remodeling their family house to make it into a home.
As a father, he was a living example of many values his children still carry today -- molding them into men by teaching them to respect their elders, help those less fortunate and, most of all, stand up for what you believe in no matter what.
At the same time, he was very laid back and easygoing. A "big kid," he loved playing wiffle ball in the backyard and riding the waves during trips to Wildwood.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Susan V. (Laeff), children Ray Jr. (Julie), Keith (Lori), Darren (Kelly) and Brent. He was a devoted grandfather to Ryan, Connor, Victoria, Ray III, Matthew and Nicholas, who he loved to give $2 bills whenever he saw them.
He is the dear brother of Veronica "Honey" Seibel; brother-in-law of Jacqueline Vearling; and uncle to numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Helen (Fabian) and Joseph Ebner, and his five siblings, Bob, Jim, Joe ("Buzz"), Helen and MaryJane.
Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, August 5, 2020, from 10:00 until 11:00 at Saint Ephrem Church, 5400 Hulmeville Road, Bensalem, where his funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am. Interment will be held privately. Social distancing will be observed and masks will be required.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to ASPCA.org. (Ray loved all animals).
