

Richard Thomas Ashcraft, age 69, passed away peacefully at his home in Levittown, Pennsylvania on October 4th, leaving behind a rich legacy of service, love, and remarkable moments shared with family and friends. Born on December 9th 1954 in Bristol Pa, he was the loving son of the late Maxine Ashcraft & James Montgomery Ashcraft 2nd
A man of unwavering integrity and unyielding patriotism, Rich's life was distinguished by his service in the United States Navy. He selflessly dedicated 4 years of his life to defend his country's freedom and protect the values he held dear. Throughout his naval tenure, he bravely navigated uncharted waters and overcame countless challenges, embodying the spirit of resilience and commitment of duty.
Outside of his military career, Richard was an esteemed member of the Levittown community, where he was cherished by all who knew him. His warm smile, friendly personality, and genuine kindness touched the lives of so many. A true neighbor and friend, he was always there to lend a helping hand.
Beyond his military and community involvement, Richard Ashcraft had many passions that brought joy to his life. He was an avid reader and constantly sought knowledge, often immersing himself in books about history and politics. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, whether it was taking various drives or embarking in political debates with anyone willing to step up to the challenge. Additionally, Rich had a profound appreciation for music and spent countless hours playing the guitar, a cherished pastime that brought rhythm and melody into his home.
The loss of Richard leaves a void in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Richard is predeceased by his parents, James Montgomery Ashcraft 2nd and Maxine Louise Ashcraft; and his siblings, James Montgomery Ashcraft 3rd, Leslie McCarthy, and Marylou Reid.
He will be deeply missed by his devoted children, Maxwell Ashcraft, and Rachel Sayers ( nee. Doto ) His memory will also be treasured by his adored grandchildren, Tierney and Reese Sayers; and by his brother, William Ashcraft.
A heartfelt service to celebrate the remarkable life of Richard will be held at on October 26, 2023 from 5 pm until 8pm at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown, PA, where family and friends will gather to honor and reminisce about the incredible memories they shared. Following the service, Richard will be laid to rest at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Rd. Newtown, PA, 18940, October 27th at 10am alongside his fellow heroes, with full military honors.
Through his self-sacrifice, love, and dedication, Richard touched the lives of countless people, leaving an indelible mark on their souls. He will forever occupy a special place in the hearts and minds of those who were fortunate enough to have him as part of their lives. May his spirit continue to guide and inspire us, as we remember him fondly and strive to honor his legacy.
Rest in peace, dear Richard. May the seas be calm and the winds be gentle as you embark on your final voyage to eternity.
