
After a very courageous battle with illness at St. Mary Medical Center, Ross Witzell went home to God on Saturday, February 27, 2010. He will be remembered as a fighter until his body gave way and he passed peacefully with his family by his side. Ross was born in Wildwood, NJ and graduated from Wildwood High School in 1951. He enlisted in the Navy and was active in the Korean Theatre stationed on the Island of Quam in the Pacific. He was a master carpenter from 1956 until he retired in 1988. Ross was an avid saltwater fisherman and always looked forward to his yearly trips to Florida with his wife. He enjoyed reading and visiting Civil War battlefields and was a "Friend of the Fields" in Gettysburg, PA. Ross is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years Mary J. Witzell. He was the loving father of Douglass P. Witzell and his wife Roberta of Medford, NJ and Allan F. Witzell and his wife Sandy of Topton, PA. He was the devoted grandfather of Adam J. and Ryan M. Witzell and Melissa and John Ohlinger and the great grandfather of Jack Fulmer He will also be sadly missed by several nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to attend his memorial mass on Saturday, March 13, 2010, 10:00 a.m. at Queen of the Universe Church, 2443 Trenton Rd., Levittown. Interment in Washington Crossing National Cemetery will be held privately at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of the donors choice.
