Theresa was preceded in death by her parents; Michael and Mary Ferenchick and is survived by her husband of 64 years, Cyril (Cy) Iskra; sons, Cyril (Shanin), Richard (Carolyn); as well as three beautiful grandchildren; Nathan, Sage and Nolan.
She experienced all the joys and sorrows of life with a quiet dignity, hard work, determination and faith. Her coal miner father taught her how to drive at a young age, enabling her to help support her mother, after the death of her father, also at a young age. Theresa helped support her widowed mother by working in a dress textile shop, sewing dress patterns during the height of the Industrial Era. Theresa often would drive her friends to the movies, dances, and to work.
Theresa met Cy at a town social event and she and Cy later married in 1960. Their journey began in Luzerne County and later to Bucks County; settling in Levittown, PA. Cy worked at the Fairless Works Steel Mill. Together, they raised their two devoted sons. Theresa also worked for many years as a cafeteria worker in Pennsbury School district and enjoyed her time there. She was very blessed to be able to watch her three beautiful grandchildren grow and become young adults. Theresa loved to crochet, going to the beach, and loved cake.
Theresa often wished she had siblings to share life's journey with; but was very happy to share her love with Cy's large family. She kept up with communications, family events and loved listening to family and friends reminiscing of their own families. Theresa kept up with information on all current issues affecting this country and shared a wealth of knowledge and history throughout her life.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 from 8:30 until 9:30 AM at Saint Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, 325 South Oxford Valley Road, Fairless Hills, PA 19030. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 9:30 AM. Burial will take place at Saint Mary's Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, Dallas, PA at 1:30 PM.
We will miss Theresa. Our hearts are heavy. She will be laid to rest with her parents, as was her wish. A beautiful scripture adorns the entrance of St Mary's Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, which reads, "Happy are they, who die in the Lord"; She is with our Lord now. Let these words remind us that we have all been blessed as we carry Theresa forward.
