William M. BowdenWilliam M. Bowden died on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at Saint Mary Medical Center in Langhorne. He was 90.Born and raised in the Brewerytown section of Philadephia, and formerly of Willingboro, NJ, Mr. Bowden has been a resident of Lower Bucks County for the past 40 years.Until his retirement in 1990, Mr. Bowden began his working career with the Reading Railroad, the Pennsyvania Railroad, retiring from Amtrak as a Freight Train Conductor after 40 years of service.He is a proud US Army World War II veteran and a member of the VFW John F. Billington Post #6495 of Levittown.Mr. Bowden enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, and maintaining his fish pond.He was a longtime volunteer at the Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia.Beloved husband of the late Margaret "Peggy" F., Mr. Bowden is the loving father of Ingrid M. Turcich (James) and Willliam M. Bowden, Jr. and stepfather of Denise Liberto (Ron), Michelle MacKay (Curtis), Charles Britton, Jr. and the late Diane, Cathy and Timothy.He is the devoted grandfather of Monica Turchich (David Ludwick) and Brian Turcich (Carly); stepgrandfather of Rachael Liberto, Sarah and Mitchell MacKay, Krystle, Kevin and the late Kirsten Britton; and proud great grandfather of Otto, Leif, Adlee, Everly, and Quinn.Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, September 5, 2017, from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Road, Levittown, PA, where his funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm. Interment will follow in Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mr. Bowden's name may be made to the Fox Chase Cancer Center, 333 Cottman Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19111.
