

William J. Carr, Sr. William J. Carr, Sr. of Levittown, died on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at Temple University Hospital. He was 83. Born and raised in Philadelphia, Mr. Carr has been a resident of Levittown since 1953. Mr. Carr was a member of St. Michael the Archangel parish. He spent most of his working years as a truck trailer mechanic with the former Strick Trailer for 27 years. He enjoyed fishing and gardening and was a fan of both the Eagles and Phillies. Mr. Carr served proudly in the US Navy during World War II. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Dorothy M., his son William J. Carr Jr. and his grandson Richard Carr, Jr. Mr. Carr was the loving father of Dorothy Chamberlain of Fairless Hills, Richard and his wife Catherine Carr of Levittown and George Carr (Colleen)of Bensalem. He was the devoted grandfather of Eric (Catherine) Chamberlain, Craig Chamberlain, Daniel (Maureen) Carr, Nicole (Keith) McCoach, Timothy (Stephanie) Carr, Jacen (Kim) Carr, George, Jr. (Sara) Carr and Kristie (Ryan) Leidy and the great grandfather of Megan, Samantha, Joscelyn, Ryan, Keara, Molly, Madison, Harrison, Anthony and Ryan and was anxiously awaiting the arrival of another in July. He will also be sadly missed by his sister Dolores (Joe) Zacarelli of Springfield; 2 nieces, Carol and Joann and a nephew, Joseph. Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Monday from 8:15 to 9:15 a.m. at the James J. Dougherty Funeral Home, Inc., 2200 Trenton Rd., Levittown. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Church followed by Rite of Committal in Resurrection Cemetery.
