

William B. Cechak, a resident of Levittown for 55 years, passed away on April 25, 2011. He was 84. Born on May 24, 1926 in New York, NY to Helen and Bohumil Cechak, Bill was in the U.S. Army as a B-29 Radar Technician and a World War II veteran. He received a B.A. and M.A. in Art Education at New York University. He was a member of Phi Beta Fraternity. He taught art in Netcong, NJ, New York City, Trenton School District, Penn State and Trenton State College. He will especially be remembered for his years teaching art & photography in the Neshaminy School District. Bill was a member of Queen of the Universe Church where he was part of the rowdy 6:30 AM crowd. He also spent much time volunteering for BARC, Middletown Township Senior Citizens Association, Meals on Wheels, and Chandler Hall and many others. He was a passionate supporter of the Red Cross donating platelets biweekly. In doing so, he was able to save a child suffering from leukemia. His love of all aspects of art was a prominent part of his life up until the day he died. He was often seen working on his latest painting or art project at the top of his driveway and many people came to know him that way. William was the beloved husband of Rose (Amari) for 57 years. He was the loving father of Lisa (John) Francisco of Levittown, Anita (John) Somplasky of Collegeville, PA, Chris (Elaine) Cechak of Annapolis, MD, Jan (Debbie) Cechak of Tunkhannock, PA, Eric (Nancy) Cechak of Moneta, VA, Rich (Carrie) Cechak of Gilbertsville, PA and Andrea (Joe) Leahy of Levittown. He was the cherished grandfather of Steven (Nicole) Francisco, Andrew Somplasky, Jeremy Somplasky, Ryan Somplasky, Lauren Cechak, Rachael Cechak, Gregory (Tracy) Cechak, Thomas Cechak, Charles Cechak, Anthony Cechak, and Nicholas Cechak, step-grandfather to Sean, Katie and Tyler Buckwalter. He was preceded in death by an infant son, J.M. Cechak and granddaughter, Christina M. Francisco. Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday, 9:00 until 11:00 am at Queen of the Universe Church, 2443 Trenton Road, Levittown, where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am. Rite of Committal will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the charity of your choice.
