He was a lifelong resident of the area. Growing up in Port Richmond, William learned to enjoy the simple pleasures in life -like a game of basketball in the neighborhood- were the kinds of things to be cherished most.
William was a dedicated member of the Teamsters. There, he would bring along his best companion, the late, Rosie the Rottweiler. William made significant contributions through his commitment and hard work with the teamsters for 20 years.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Karen (nee Goodwin), his son Billy Maier, his sister Maggie Rafter, brothers-in-law Kevin (Andrea) and Wayne (Pat) Goodwin, and his loyal dog, Petey. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Anna, and his siblings, Dolores, Michael, and Jimmy. He will also be remembered by many extended family and friends. William will be remembered as a husband, father, and friend whose gentle demeanor and reliable nature left a lasting impact on those around him.
