

William J. Walto, Jr. William J. Walto, Jr. died on Sunday, June 1, 2014 at Saint Mary Medical Center in Langhorne, He was 87. Born and raised in South Philadelphia, he was a former resident of the Logan Section prior to moving to Levittown in 1970. Mr. Walto was a member of Saint Michael the Archangel Parish. He loved all music, especially Big Band era, reading, gardening and he also enjoyed various puzzles, including crosswords and jumbles. Mr. Walto was also determined to fix anything and enjoyed any new challenge. He was a devoted family man, always happy to be with those he loved. Mr. Walto was a World War II US Navy veteran. He enlisted in 1944 and served on the destroyer escort, USS Heyliger in the North Pacific. He was there at the surrender at Rota, when the Japanese surrendered to the ship. He was discharged honorably from the Navy in 1946. Beloved husband of nearly 64 years to the late Edna, Mr. Walto was the loving father of William M. (Jeanne Malloy) of Ewing, NJ, Patricia A. Richards ( Frank Robidoux) of Philadelphia, Robert J. (Edith-Anne) of North Plainfield, NJ and Barbara A. Hansbury of Palm Bay, FL. He was the devoted grandfather of Megan, Timothy, Jacob, William J. III and Katharine and proud great grandfather of Lucy and Cayden. He was the brother of Mary Overstreet of Philadelphia. He was predeceased by his brothers, Edward and Joseph. Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday, 9:00 until 10:00 am at Saint Michael the Archangel Church, 66 Levittown Parkway, Levittown, where his funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am. Interment will be held privately at Washington Crossing National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the American Diabetes Association, 150 Monument Road, Suite 100, Bala Cynwyd, PA 19004.
