Yvonne Hicks

Yvonne Hicks passed away unexpectedly of heart failure on Thursday, February 15, 2024 with her family lovingly by her side.

Born in Glasgow, Scotland on September 19th, 1960 to her parents Margaret and John Donnelly, Yvonne was the oldest sibling to her two brothers, John and Jim. She spent her childhood and young adult life in Scotland, until she moved to the United States in 1987 and met the love of her life and husband of 32 years, Andrew "Andy" Hicks. They had their first and only child, Andy, in 1995, who was the pride and joy of her life.

At the age of 27, Yvonne left her home in Scotland to venture to the US to start a new life on her own, which is just one example of her immense strength. Her family was soon to follow her, a testament to the love that everyone has always had for her. She was a fighter through any obstacle that she faced.

Yvonne had a love of numbers and spent her early career in Scotland working in accounting. She started her journey in the US as a nanny, and once settled, spent many years at Dimensions hair salon in Newtown, PA. She would meet countless lifelong friends working in reception at the salon. She then spent several years in the real estate industry until she finally moved to Senior Helpers as an office manager.

Yvonne had a personality like no other. She exuded love, kindness, and joy into the world and was a natural born comedian. She brought a warmth and brightness into a room that was unmatched and knew how to make anyone feel loved and important within minutes of knowing them. Whether she was singing Patsy Cline or dancing to Tom Waits, she was the life of any party; as long as you didn't take her microphone while she was singing!

Yvonne enjoyed a simple life. She loved her home in Newtown, PA, and she loved her family fiercely. Any opportunity to spend time with her loved ones was all that she needed to be happy, and she was known for doing anything for the people that she loved. Her world was her son, and her son's world will always be her; their bond is unbreakable beyond this world.

Yvonne is survived by her husband, Andrew "Andy" Hicks; her son, Andrew "Andy" Hicks Jr; her mother, Margaret Donnelly; her brothers, John (Jan) Donnelly and Jim (Maria) Donnelly; her nieces, Danielle Donnelly and Mia Donnelly; her nephew, James Donnelly; her mother-in-law, Jean Hicks; her sisters-in-law, Sophie (Dudley) Marchand and Elizabeth Hicks; and her lifelong friend and sister, Beth (Joe) Crilly, her god daughter Katie (Chris) Russick.

She is preceded in death by her father, John Donnelly; her aunt, Mary (Ed) Butrym; and her beloved (although evil) dog, Seamus Hicks.

Yvonne will be celebrated on Friday, February 23rd at the Olde Church of Saint Andrew in Newtown, PA with a viewing from 10:00 to 11:00 and a Mass at 11:00am. Her burial will directly follow the Mass procession at the church.
