

AUBURN- Anne C. Lachance, 66, of 144 Lisbon Road, Sabattus died Friday October 28, 2011 at the Hospice House of Androscoggin following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Lewiston, Maine on March 1, 1945 the daughter of Antoine and Yvette (Dube) Castonguay and had been a resident of this community all of her life. She was educated at Sabattus School and was a graduate of St. Dominic Regional High School Class of 1962. She began her career in banking at the former First Federal Savings Bank which became United Kingfield Bank for a total of thirty-four years. She then went to Sabattus Regional Credit Union as Executive Vice President until her retirement. Anne enjoyed baking, gardening and most of all spending time with her grandchildren. She was very active in parish and school activities at Our Lady of the Rosary Church. She was a director with Loaves and Fishes in Sabattus. Anne was known for her kindness, generosity and her ever present smile.
She is survived by her husband Normand Lachance whom she married on August 8, 1964 of Sabattus; two sons Marc Lachance and his wife Martha of Gorham and Louis Lachance and his wife Brandy of Sabattus; two daughters Monique Lachance of Portland and Elaine Herzig and her husband David of Windham; seven grandchildren Jack, Katie and Kyle Herzig, Sophie, Quinn, Gillian and Julia Lachance; four brothers Julien Castonguay and his wife Donna of Sabattus, Denis Castonguay and his wife Irene of Sabattus, Alcide Castonguay and his companion Arlene McIver of Bowdoin and Maurice Castonguay and his wife Janyce of Canton, MA.; two sisters Aline Moore and her husband Philip of Kansas City, Missouri and Monette Lane and her husband Joseph of Vernon, Texas; and many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the staff at Central Maine Medical Center Oncology and the staff at the Hospice House of Androscoggin. A Funeral Mass honoring Anne’s life will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10AM at Our Lady of the Rosary Church in Sabattus. Committal prayers will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery.
