

Rev. Lombardi was born in Torchiati, Italy on May 28, 1928 to Alfonso and Immacolata (Russo) Lombardi. He came with his family to America in 1929 and was raised on Staten Island, New York. Rev. Lombardi was a graduate of Houghton College and Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary where he trained for the Christian ministry. On August 2o, 1952 he married Donna Smith of London, Ontario, Canada. The following year Rev. Lombardi received a commission to go to Maine and re-open a small church in Lewiston. He was ordained by the Conservative Baptist Association of America in 1955.
During his life, Pastor Lombardi shepherded three different congregations. In the beginning of his career, he pastored the South Lewiston Baptist Church as well as, for a short time, the 1st Congregational Church of Durham, ME. In his later career, he Pastored Gibbs Mill Road Baptist Church in Livermore, Maine. Between 1953-1990 Pastor Lombardi ministered to the congregation at South Lewiston Baptist Church. In later years, he was the Volunteer Hospice Chaplain at Marshwood Healthcare Center, where he was a resident. Throughout his ministry, Rev. Lombardi was known for his unrelenting proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ both individually and in the pulpit, in all circumstances and settings. His passion for people to know Christ was seen not only in his habit of personal evangelism but also in his lifelong devotion to missions.
Survivors include his wife, Donna; two sons, Mark, and wife Terri, Hancock, N.H.; John, Dover, N.H. a daughter Jane and husband, Rev. Bret McAtee, Charlotte, MI; 7 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The Lombardi family wishes to express their deep gratitude to all of the staff at Marshwood Healthcare Center who were so attentive in the care of Rev. Lombardi for 19 years and especially to Amy and Sandra who tenderly attended him in his final hours.

Lombardi-Passed away in Lewiston June 22nd. Rev. Anthony age 89 of Lewiston. Funeral services will be held on Thursday June 29, 2017 at 2:00PM at The South Lewiston Baptist Church. Burial to follow at Clough Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please designate donations to South Lewiston Baptist Church missionary fund.
