Betty E. Blair

Lewiston- Betty E. Blair 78, of Wales died Friday June 22, 2012 at Central Maine Medical Center, after a very sudden illness. She was born in Edmundston, New Brunswick Canada on January 11, 1934 a daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Taggart) Blair. She was educated in Canada, attended St. Joseph’s School of Nursing in Hamilton Ontario, and completed her schooling at Columbia University in New York. Betty was a nurse anesthetist for Griffin Hospital in Derby CT for many years. She enjoyed taking care of those around her, whether it was patients or family. After retiring she moved to Florida with her brother Gary, together they owned a 21 acre farm where they raised cattle and had orange groves. In her later years she became blind, but that never slowed her down, she always kept a positive attitude and never complained. She was a very devoted daughter, sister and aunt and will be missed by all the lives she has touched. She leaves a brother Hollis Blair and his wife Louise from Oakville Ontario Canada, and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by two sisters Verna Saucier and Beulah Fournier, and two brothers Gary and John Blair. At Betty's request there will be no visitation. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday 11 AM at Our Lady of the Rosary Church in Sabattus.
