Carol A. Card

LEWISTON- Carol A. Card, 67, of Auburn died on Monday August 9, 2010 at Central Maine Medical Center following a courageous battle with cancer with her family by her side. She was born in Kittery, Maine on July 9, 1943 the daughter of Carleton and Elizabeth (Poulin) Bubier and had been a resident of this community all of her life. She was educated in Auburn schools and was a graduate of Edward Little High School Class of 1961. She was employed as a sales associate for many different retailers throughout the Lewiston and Auburn area until her retirement in 1989. Carol was a member of the Seacoast Painting Club where she was involved in painting of memory boxes to help console families with lost loved ones. She enjoyed painting, horse back riding, tending to her berry bushes at her home, baking and spending time with her grandchildren and their friends. Carol has fought with many different illnesses throughout her life however she always maintained a positive attitude no matter what the doctors had diagnosed her with. Her legacy in life was never to give up. She is survived by her husband Alonzo Card whom she married on December 24, 1973 of Lisbon; one son John Hackett and his wife Sharon of Auburn; one daughter Kathleen Bower and her husband William of Rantoul, Illinois; one step-son Timothy Card of Auburn; one step-daughter Denise Card-Willard and her husband Wade of Orono; eight grandchildren Brittany and Kellie Hackett both of Auburn, Ashley and Chase Card-Burns, Harriet Card-Willard all of Orono, Dylan Card of Auburn, Stephanie Pickens of Rantoul, Illinois and Daniel Bower of Arizona; three nephews Moe Ouellette, Ralph Spencer III and Carleton Spencer; four special children whom she considered her grandchildren Amanda, Eric, Lindsay and Ryan. She was predeceased by her parents; and a sister Sandra Ellis who passed away in October of 2004. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff on M1 at Central Maine Medical Center for the kindness and compassion shown to both Carol and her family. A Memorial service honoring Carol's life will be celebrated on Friday 10AM from the memorial chapel of Dillingham & Son. Committal prayers will follow at Gracelawn Memorial Chapel.
