A quote fitting for a life unexpectedly cut short. Cherie Ann Asselin, aged 52, of Lewiston, passed away in the presence of loved ones on June 29th, 2025 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
Cherie was born and raised in Lewiston, Maine to Richard Sr. and Laura Asselin of Lewiston on September 25, 1972. She attended Lewiston High School and a graduate of Class of 1990. She was a member of the high school chorus and enjoyed attending nontraditional classes, such as automotive in the vocational wing of the school. She continued using her social skills while working at a summer camp during those high school years.
You could always find a helpful and cheerful voice on the other end of the telephone line while she was working at Champion Glass and Fortin Construction. If you were fortunate enough to be holiday shopper at Kohl’s, you would find Cherie in a character costume, enthusiastically easing some burden and stress during that particular shopping season for shoppers.
Family and friends will always remember Cherie singing songs relevant to her current situation, attend important Saturday breakfast dates, her passion for cheese, and her willingness to come alongside anyone needing a helping hand. Cherie thoroughly enjoyed craft and holiday fairs and was an avid bargain hunter! Loved ones fondly remember her sly skills at reclaiming her wanted gifts during Yankee Swaps! Cherie’s adventurous spirit took to places near and far. It didn’t matter the mode of transportation. Although, she enjoyed motorcycling. Cherie was invested in her family and friend relationships. She was able to nurture and soothe a hurting soul. She was kind and deliberate with her words. Cherie’s quick wit and puns made conversations interesting and mostly lead to her contagious and infectious laugh! Cherie participated in charitable a activities which allowed her to be photographed with Patrick Dempsey and the governor.
Cherie was passionate about spending time with the grand babies, Nash and Ellie. She enjoyed get-togethers with siblings and close friends, making the infamous pool of “Clam Dip”, ooey gooey Rice Krispy Treats, tasty Muddy Buddies, and organizing the family calendar around the holidays. The making of memories may have been cut short, but the legacy is alive and well! Cherie, your absence is deeply felt and you will be sorely missed!
