Daniel F. Prue

AUBURN- Daniel F. Prue, 65, of Auburn passed away unexpectedly at his residence on Monday November 10, 2014. He was born in Gray, Maine on January 14, 1949 the son of Louis H. and Beth E. (Woodward) Prue and had been a resident of this community all of his life. He was educated in Auburn schools and graduated from Edward Little High School Class of 1967. He worked with his parents at Gray General Store before becoming a machinist and working at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. He then became a licensed private investigator. Dan retired from his company, Pennical Services after twenty plus years. He was most proud of retiring undefeated Maine State Champion in skeet shooting. In his early years, he was an avid outdoorsman. Dan was an avid coin collector, (numismatist) from an early age of 13 into his adult life and also played the guitar, especially his acoustic and he was very good.

Dan is survived by his companion and wife of 38 years, the former Faye E. (Paradis) Prue of Auburn; his mother Beth Prue of New Gloucester; his brothers Arthur Prue of Norway and James Prue and his wife Nancy of Dover, NH; a special niece Elana Reed and her husband Jason of Lincoln; his great niece Eva Reed of Lincoln, whom he was very fond of; plus many other nieces, nephews, brother and sister-in-laws; as well as many close friends.

He was predeceased by his father Louis Prue. Dan will be sadly missed by many including his cairn terrier, Skye. Online condolences and sharing of memories may be expressed at www.lynchbrothers.com . A Memorial Service honoring Daniel’s life will be celebrated on Monday November 17, 2014 at 7:00 PM at the Pinette Dillingham & Lynch Funeral Home. Burial will be held privately at St. John’s Cemetery in Brunswick. A memorial gathering will be held on Monday from 4-7 PM prior to the service at the Pinette Dillingham & Lynch Funeral Home 305 Alfred A. Plourde Parkway, Lewiston 784-4023.
