LEWISTON – Dolores Mottram, 84, of Auburn, died on Friday March 31st with her loving family by her side. Dolly was the wife of the late Gerald Mottram for over 59 years. Born in Lewiston, the daughter of John and Julia (King) Hanlon, Dolly attended school in Auburn and graduated from Edward Little High School in 1952. It was during high school that she met Jerry, and they married in 1953. They started their family in 1958 and pursued career opportunities in Keene N.H., Burlington and Middlebury Vermont. In addition to her role as a wonderful mother she was part of team in an early childhood education program in Middlebury. Dolly worked side by side with Jerry on many construction projects as well as operating their two dairy farms in Vermont. Dolly and Jerry retired together in 1979 from their traditional work and returned to their hometown of Auburn where together they enjoyed more leisure time for golfing, dancing, exercising and getting reacquainted with childhood friends. They loved to travel and their trips included Alaska, Ireland and numerous country-wide motor home adventures taking in all of our country’s National Parks. Her role as grandmother was most cherished. Dolly loved being part of her grandchildren’s lives and although she loved to travel, time spent away from Auburn was always planned to ensure she was always home for holidays, birthdays and the grandchildren’s special events. Dolly is survived by Maggie, her faithful and loving Westie, who filled Dolly with love after the loss of Jerry.
