

Auburn-Edith Frank Norris, age 93, of Auburn died Saturday February 19, 2011 at Schooner Estates with family and friends at her side. Born in Poland, Maine on December 29, 1917 the daughter of Claude and Goldie (Hayward) Frank. She attended Minot Corner School and graduated from Edward Little High School class of 1935. She then went on to further her education at Farmington Normal School Teachers College graduating in 1938. Edith returned to UMF to earn her B.S. in Education in 1961. She taught school in the Auburn School system for 30 years retiring in 1979.
She was married in 1940 to the late Earl L. Norris who died on September 1, 1972.
An avid outdoors person she enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and canoeing. She also particularly reveled in improving her home’s landscaping and planted and matured colorful flower beds and shrubs.
She was a member of the Auburn Retired Teachers Association, the Androscoggin Retired Teachers and the National Retired Teachers Association. She also was a member of the Maine Association of Retirees and the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International.
She spent many years encouraging the continual care and improvement of the Lane Cemetery in East Poland.
She is survived by one son Bruce L. Norris of Flemington, NJ, two grandsons; Bradley L. Norris and his wife Kristina of Hockessin, DE and Timothy D. Norris and his wife Tracy of Califou, NJ, and three great-grandchildren; Connor, Luke and Chloey.
Besides her husband she is predeceased by a sister Bernice Fifield.
