

AUBURN - �Ernest Vernon Keene, 77, passed away on Sunday, July 29th at the Androscoggin Hospice House. "Ernie" was born April 2, 1930, in West Turner the son of Clarence E. and Nellie (Tupai) Keene. He attended one-room schools in West Turner and at Brighton Hill in Hebron until his family moved in 1945 to West Auburn. He was a 1949 graduate of Edward Little High School. He married Linda S. Wheeler of Sabattus on June 16, 1973. He especially loved and enjoyed the home he and his wife Linda built, fulfilling his life dream of returning to live on the site of the old family farm. Besides his wife, Linda, he leaves a brother Richard C. Keene and his wife, Rita, of West Turner; a sister, Arline K. Hoar and her husband, Jay of Temple; nieces Tina McCormick and her husband, Terrance and children, Brogan and Hayley of West Turner; Cindy Roy and her husband, Jeff and children Lauren, and Evan, of West Turner; Sheryl L. Hoar of Lynn MA; Kendra J. Keene of Auburn; and a nephew James R. Keene of Norway; Brother in law, Lyle K. Wheeler and his wife, Janet �of Sabattus; Nephews, Lyle J. Wheeler and his wife, Marie and son, Colin of Bradford; Randy Wheeler of Sabattus, and niece, Amanda Mitchell and her husband, Todd and their son, Preston of Poland. Ernie was predeceased by his parents, and by a sister in law, Pauline Cote Keene. Ernie will always be remembered for his love of family and home. The Keene family would like to extend special thanks to the nurses and staff of the Hospice for their special care given to Ernie. KEENE died in Auburn, July 29, 2007, Mr. Ernest (Ernie) V. Keene age 77 years a resident of Turner. Funeral services honoring Ernie's life will be held WEDNESDAY 10:00AM from the Memorial Chapel of Dillingham & Son with Reverend Chester Garrison presiding. Graveside committal prayers to follow at North Auburn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Ernie's memory may be made to the Hospice House 236 Stetson rd., Auburn, ME 04210.
