

AUBURN - �Evelyn W. Beale, 94, a resident of 93-A Shepley Street died Wednesday morning unexpectedly at her residence.She was born in Bangor, June 21, 1913, the daughter of James R. and Cecilia (Kenney) Welch. She attended Bangor Schools, and was a 1929 graduate of Bangor High School. She continued her education at the Bouve-Boston School of Physical Education graduating in 1933. She continued her graduate work at Simmons College in Boston. Following her schooling, she became a physical education teacher in Brewer during the 1930's. She married John M. Beale on June 13, 1940 at St. John's Roman Catholic Church in Bangor. She and her husband were very active in the Lewiston Auburn community and were founding members of St. Philip's Church. Evelyn served for many years on the Board of Directors of the local Girl Scout Council as head of the camp committee and, the L/A YWCA board of directors, having been very instrumental in construction of the YWCA Pool on East Ave. She also served on the L/A United Way Board of Directors, and as a volunteer for Pathways.She loved the outdoors, and her home was a central point of family Thanksgiving gatherings. She will always be remembered as a strong, religious person.Survivors include her husband, John M. Beale of Auburn, three sons, Stephen Beale and his wife, Laurie Gibson of Durham; Thomas Beale and his wife, Jean of Bangor; Michael Beale and his wife, Kate of Holden; two sisters, Barbara Wilson of Waterville, and Suzanne Cole of Bangor. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Andrea, Martin, David, Moira, and Jonathan Beale, and one great grandson, Alexander Beale.Besides her parents, she was predeceased by one son, James Beale, and two brothers, Edgar and Paul Welch.BEALE died in Auburn, April 30, 2008, Mrs. Evelyn W. Beale age 94 years, a resident of �93-A Shepley St., Auburn.A Mass of Christian Burial honoring Evelyn's life will be held SATURDAY 11:00AM at St. Philip's Church, Turner St., Auburn. Graveside committal prayers to follow at Mt.
