Fernand L. Charest

Fernand was born in Lewiston on September 20, 1933 to Thomas and Amanda Charest. He attended school at Holy Family and graduated from Saint Dominic's high school in 1952 playing on their championship hockey varsity team.

He enlisted in the Navy in 1953 and was honorably discharged in May 1957. Traveling to many ports around the world.

He then went to work for BIW as an apprentice in the ship fitting department.

He then married the love of his life Jacqueline Pessant, on September 14, 1957 and resided in Lewiston ever since.. They were blessed with two children, Denis and Rachel.

He retired from BIW after working 33 years. He started an antique shop – ' Brookside antiques' on Pleasant st Lewiston.

Fern enjoyed fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, and time spent in their summer home in Freeport. Traveling in the motorhome to Canada and Florida, always spending time with family. He loved watching and listening to Red Sox baseball.

Fernand is survived by his wife Jacqueline, his son, Denis and significant other Julie Snell, his daughter, Rachel, and her significant other Mike Laurence. His grandchildren, Nicole and Scott Ring, Rick Pomerleau, Miranda Charest, Maxwell Snell, Lydia and Nevin Rand. His great grandchildren Adriana Charest, Emilia Ring, Ricky Jr. Pomerleau, Ellie and Daniel Marin, Mabel and Finley Rand.

His siblings, Rosaire Charest of Lewiston and Rita LePage of Florida and sister-in-law, Carmen Charest of Lewiston and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents and 14 brothers and sisters and his grandson Dillon Pomerleau.

Visitation will be at Pinette Dillingham and Lynch,Funeral Home and Cremation Services 305 Alfred Plourde Parkway Tuesday, May 9th from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM.

Funeral Services will be held at Holy Family Church Sabattus Street Lewiston on Wednesday May 10th at 11 AM.
