AUBURN - George H. Heald, 72 a resident of Auburn died early Wednesday morning at Clover Health Care Facility following a long illness. He was born in Turner, July 5, 1934, the son of Charles and Dorothy (Dunlap) Heald. Mr. Heald was a 1952 graduate of Litchfield Academy, and was an Air Force veteran who was part of a joint Air Force-Army recovery team in 1960 that recovered the remains of a World War II B-24 flight crew that crashed in the Libyan desert in 1943. He had been employed in industrial roofing business for many years and was an avid outdoorsman. Survivors include three brothers, Paul of Massachusetts, Richard of Florida, and Charles Heald of Maine, two sisters, Ferne Bean of West Paris, Beverly Moody of Augusta, and his companion of 28 years. Phyllis Small of Auburn, and several nieces and nephews. HEALD died in Auburn, November 22, 2006, Mr. George H. Heald age 72 years a resident of Auburn. Graveside committal prayers will be held TUESDAY 11:00AM, November 28th at Gracelawn Memorial Park.
