

LEWISTON: Jean Charles (Normand) Masse, 87, of Auburn, Maine was welcomed by the Lord with open arms on Tuesday, October 25, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family. Jean was born in Lewiston, Maine on May 10, 1929, a son of the late Charles and Annette (Aube) Masse, the oldest of 7 children. Jean married Lorraine St.Pierre on May 29, 1949. They lived in Lewiston before moving to Auburn in 1968. At a young age, Jean started working with his dad at the Maine Baking Company. He worked many jobs to support his family including Pepperil Mill, Bates Mill, Don and Dick’s Foodland, Bonneau’s Supermarket, L & A Groceries, Pepsi, he drove a school bus in Auburn and was a custodian at Sherwood Heights and Central Maine Vocational Technical Institute (CMCC). He also enjoyed plowing snow with his father and brother. He loved spending time with his family, and traveling with the love of his life Lorraine. They went on many trips and built loving memories while traveling to California, Hawaii, Alaska, Germany, France, England and Italy. Jean and Lorraine also enjoyed camping and owned a winter home in Vero Beach for several years. He was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus 3rd Degree Holy Cross Council #12652 and 4th Degree Monsignor Felix Martin Assembly, as well as a member of the American Legion Post #31. He loved to tell stories, attend grandchildren sports events and activities, and talk about his vehicles. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Lorraine, a daughter Diane Beaucage and her husband Paul, a son Robert Masse and his wife JoNell, a son Richard Masse and his wife Cathy, a son Raymond Masse and his wife Kim, and a daughter Michele Brewer and her husband Anthony and his canine partner Chloe. He also leaves behind his grandchildren; Richard Giguere, Kevin Giguere, Amy Wiers, Eric Beaucage, Alaina Beaucage, Suzette Beaucage, Matthew Masse, Sara St. Laurent, Sonia Ramirez, Shari Tondreau, Ray Masse, Brett Fecteau, Drew Masse, Nicole Trudell, and Danielle Moreau. 26 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren as well as a brother Raymond and his wife Doris, a sister Pauline Firczak and her husband John, and a sister Lorraine Bolen and her partner Al Audette and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Robert Masse, his sister Constance Dufour, his sister Claudette Aube and a special great-granddaughter,Sadie Tondreau. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church in Auburn on Monday October 31, 2016 at 10am followed by committal prayers at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Lewiston.
